What Tony Godfrey means by the word “conceptual” is that when creating art it usually has nothing to do with the material or the way it looks, because it all has to do with ideas and beliefs. He also highlights the idea of the people observing a piece of work reacting to it. Everyone has different ways of understanding and taking in conceptual art, and that’s what makes it so interesting. Each time a person looks at the work, there is a different response.
